Toddlers – Twos
From toddlers into twos, children are learning what they can do. They are testing the world around them. At Smart Kids’ children are encouraged to explore, discover, and interact with their peers, along with adults in the environment. The curriculum focuses on toddler interests by using the principles of R-E-I, Relate, Explore and Expand, and Inspire.
Relate – is a way to observe and interact with toddlers in order that we are aware of their interests.
Explore and Expand – is a way for the toddlers to discover new materials, objects, and language. We will know children’s interest because we will be relating to them and will be involved in their explorations.
Inspire – opportunities that will develop more wonder and curiosity. We will provide the challenge that is necessary for wonderful experiences to occur.
We will plan daily experiences that set the stage for toddler and two year old discovery, exploration and child’s play.
The Young Child as an Extension of the Family
Family, child development centers, and school represent the primary environments of which young children grow and develop. The family is the child’s first and best teacher and can provide us with important information. Knowing your child’s unique learning abilities, personality, values, cultural practices, and wonderful interests, is very important to us. Here at Smart Kids’ families are welcome, have unlimited access to their children, and are encouraged to participate in all Smart Kids’ activities and experiences.
